Instead of simply stating what the item is, give it some depth by writing about its practical uses in a real life setting, and how you, or someone else, personally benefited from it.

By combining both of these techniques, you will be have the imagination of potential bidders perceiving what the item would look like in real life, and will motivate them to place a bid.
