Expert opinion would seem to dictate that color pictures are preferred in use for online auctions.
The actual truth might be slightly different.
While full color pictures definitely help fully illustrate the item being auctioned online, the pictures might not match the theme of the product being auctioned.
If you are auctioning online an antique, or a vintage collectible, your online auction customer might be more impressed with a black and white photo.
The black and white picture will ring true to her, since she will associate the antique or vintage collectible with the look of the photograph.
